Our NFA Policy and Application Process
1) Contact your FFL Dealer to verify that they are able to conduct your transfer and can furnish the appropriate paperwork needed.
When ordering a Class III / NFA item, Central Florida Armament will need your FFL Dealer’s Special Occupational Tax (SOT) and Federal Firearms License (FFL) on file. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to contact their FFL Dealer to provide Central Florida Armament with current, signed, and dated copies of their FFL and SOT, and to verify their FFL Dealer will conduct the transfer.
2) Upon verification of the aforementioned paperwork, CFA will submit a Form 3 application to the ATF.
Once Central Florida Armament has been provided an FFL and SOT, we will verify the information is current and submit a Form 3 application to the ATF. CFA will not begin the process of submitting a Form 3 application to the ATF until a current, signed, and dated copy of your FFL’s license and SOT is received. Please note that this process, upon submission, can take 6 weeks or longer for approval.
3) Upon approval of the Form 3 by the ATF, your order will be processed and shipped to your FFL.
After Central Florida Armament receives the Form 3 approval back from the ATF, your order will be processed and shipped to your FFL.
4) Upon arrival of your Class III / NFA item, your FFL wil contact you, and if needed, walk you through the process of submitting a Form 4 application to the ATF.
Once the FFL holder receives the suppressor, you and your FFL will submit the Form 4 application to the ATF to get the suppressor transferred to you. Please note that this process can take 6 – 12 months for approval. Approval is not guaranteed, keep in mind that the devil is in the details and remember to be thorough.
If you find this process daunting or are unsure about how to get started, the folks over at National Gun Trusts have compiled a collection of walk-through guides, and form generators which are available free of charge.
